Limetown Episode 2: Winona

This episode starts with Lia interviewing a survivor of the incident of the disappearance Limetown. Winona states that to interview her there are set of parameters and conditions she has to promise to get the information. The conditions include Winona can only speak under specific parameters and Lia can’t ask what they are, Winona can only give the information she can provide and nothing else, and her message regarding Limetown will be her last message regarding the issue and this information will be used to interview the next survivor. The upper police and investigations have concluded and confirmed that Winona as one of the survivors of the incidents. With some interviews, Winona that despite has to work for demeaning job, she tells Lia that each person has a role for him or her in the town. It is implied that the people were content with the society and describes Limetown as a kind of society filled with freedom. Winona later reveals that there were once two men at night drawing different figures, and those figures’ movement bare eerily resemblances to each other man. One of the men tells that Winona she can’t work here anymore and seems to understand Winona’s background such that a man knows the name of Winona’s girl Sylvia. After interviewing Winona, Lia is warned by an insane man when she is in her hotel room, and the man warns that Lia needs to leave before she can.

This podcast has used of unreliable narrator because Winona has to tell under specific conditions and the lack of further steps to acquire critical information makes the audience suspect the mystery of Limetown. Furthermore, Winona has to write down information on notes because her memory is faulty, thus needs to record what she remembers on notes before she forgets the incident. It is also worth mentioning that memory can be faulty or changes based on one’s perspective, so it is also likely that the memory of Winona to be twisted in some way, further complexing the issue. The insane man is also an interesting addition to the cast because his identity and background are unknown, and his warning is probably leads to the mystery of Limetown because there were many reports and studies involved Limetown. Thus, it is possible that the man is trying to save Lia before something sinister is going to happen.

Episode 2 has used the suspense music when transmitting to the antidotes Winona encountered. The music is the most prominent when the mysterious group of men appear at night. When transitioning back to the interview, music has paused. Not until Winona starts to panic again and unsettling background sound takes place. The music also stops abruptly when Winona refuses to reveal more information during the interview. Also, the uses of insane man’s shouting as a background sound can serve as a transition of something bad might be going to happen because the sound sounds desperate. Also, the insane man’s shouting adds a layer of realism and suspense to the Limetown.

The uses of one destination to another destination can be seen in the podcast. Winona’s information is the clue to the next step of mystery and the atmosphere also changes when Lia was warned by an insane man when she was in her hotel. The man’s unstable behavior may serve as a hint that the mystery of Limetown is not something to be taken lightly and force Lia leaves before she can. It is similar to some other tropes that focus on the consequences of uncovering some mysteries, and some mysteries are not meant to be revealed. Otherwise, there are some truly wicked things behind the conspiracy. However, to solve the mystery, it is the only way despite how dangerous it is.
