Serial- Season 1 Part 2

In Episode four of season 1 of the podcast Serial, Sarah Koenig beings to talk about inconsistencies within the case itself.  The audience begins to learn a little bit more and more about all the suspects ally by’s and the inconsistencies within them. For example the audience learns about the boyfriend’s ally by of him supposedly having been at track practice. Sarah then also adds to mention though, that it was not for sure if he was there or not as the practice does not take attendance of all the athletes. But as the audience continues to be informed of the all the ally by’s it begins to be a bit confusing, which adds to say that the stories do not line up. If a person’s storylines ups with another person’s story then it is like if a person heard the story twice. Repetition helps dilute any confusion, but if two different stories about the same event are told then it only makes the story longer along with changing details from the previous. This would definitely confuse the listener, and this happens in this serial podcast, as the audience also begins to get confused with all the stories and inconsistencies. But it does not happen because of Sarah Koenig, rather as she explains the story through her podcast the audience realizes that the contradictions are evident, and although Sarah Koenig explains the contradictions, there was no real need for it though. Sarah was not the person that caused the confusion rather her voice helped guide the audience through it, and helped the audience distinguish the real story between the fake ally by’s. A thing that Sarah Koenig does to help with this though is when she incorporates actual recordings of the interrogations that the cops made. When she adds these to her steady discussion with the audience, it helps give a little bit of context to what exactly she is talking about. What makes it so good though is the fact that she will play a short recording of the interrogation, then she will discuss it, break it down, and then play the rest or another recording. So she doesn’t just acknowledge it but also breaks it down to ensure the audience follows along and is in full understanding of what is going on. Not only does this help her overall podcast, but also helps get the story explained in the best way possible way. Yet again, she also adds her on personal opinions and views on the matter, an example of this is when she says that

Ednaun finally comes clean after two pages of reading the detectives notes. She says though as she is not 100 percent sure whether this is exactly what the detective meant when he wrote it down in the notes as she states that the detective notes were quite messing. As the audience hears this, it causes some amusement, as Sarah Koenig makes somewhat fun of the detectives handwriting, and stating that she was unclear whether there really was a confession or there was not. Overall Sarah continues to make amazing work in her podcast.
